The Inner West Food Series: My Top 5 Restaurants To Go Out For Dinner

My 5 favourite restaurants in Sydney's Inner West

Now that we’ve tried the best cafes and the best places to go out for lunch in the Inner West, it’s time for dinner! Check out my 5 favourite restaurants in Sydney’s Inner West below.

Il Grappolo

They call themselves “Rozelle’s Hidden Gem” for a reason – this place is incredible! Take your pick from the classic Italian menu or try the daily specials. The prawn and blue swimmer crab zucchini flowers are my favourite starter – it’s absolutely delicious. I’ve tried several of their mains and they were all superb, and the same goes for the desserts. The atmosphere is very lively and the staff is really friendly and attentive.

The Riverview

This place is not only a great pub in Balmain, but also their upstairs dining room serves up some cracking dishes. The team at The Riverview like to play with flavours, making their menu and varying specials (vodka cured salmon anyone?) really exciting. Whatever you do, make sure you save some room and order the Riverview Garden dessert. You’re welcome.

Alfie & Hetty

Housed in a heritage terrace in Glebe, Alfie and Hetty’s French-inspired menu is sure to get every fan of European cuisine excited. Fans of beef should definitely try the braised beef cheeks or the short ribs, but if you feel like sharing I definitely recommend the whole lamp shoulder with truffled mash for two. It’s Sunday roast on steroids.

Butcher and the Farmer

Housed in the Tramsheds in Harold Park, this restaurant puts a lot of emphasis on sourcing great ingredients, so you’ll know where your cut of meat came from. The menu is fairly simple but the food is beautifully cooked. I also love that they serve up homemade pies (delicious!). A great place to go after work with friends as you can stick around for a drink or two.

Bauhaus West

This place is set up more like a bar, making it a great place to go with a small group of people. The menu can be best described as European-Japanese fusion and it’s designed to share. Desserts vary daily. If the dessert of the day isn’t up to your taste, head to Cow & The Moon for some delicious gelato – it’s only a few doors down from Bauhaus West on Enmore Road.

Enjoy!
